What is Revenue model?

A revenue model describes how your company makes money: who pays, for what, how often and how the price is set, for example subscriptions, usage fees, transaction fees or one-time sales.

Example

A tool for freelancers could charge $15 a month per user (subscription), 2% of every invoice paid (transaction fee), or a one-time $99 license. Each choice changes cash flow, growth and who the right customer is.

Why it matters for early-stage founders

Your revenue model shapes your pricing, your sales motion and the numbers investors will look at. A model that fits how customers already buy removes friction from every sale.

The common mistake

Copying the model of a famous company without checking how your own customers prefer to pay and how they measure value.
